Day of Departure:
Our journey started with a flight from Venice Marco Polo to Rome on the day 10/06/2018 , our plane took off at 15:35 and we landed at 16:30 at Rome. We spent this day only looking around ourselves and rest. The budget was 2348,42 euros and for the flight we spent 63 euros for each one. Our accommodation was a flat named Casa Ricò a very pretty apartment located at 600 meters from St. Peter’s Basilica, for 7 nights we paid around 250 euros each one.
Day 1:
The first day we got out to visit The Colosseum, The Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill from 9 o’clock to 12:00, for this tour we paid 44 euros each one after that we got lunch. Those monuments are the most important and the most visited of Rome, The Colosseum was an arena where gladiators fought among themselves and against ferocious animals, The Roman Forum was a big square where people met to talk or to trade, The Palatine hill is one of the 7 hills of Rome and it’s very important because there the city of Rome is born, now it’s a Museum. At the evening we went on an evening tour on foot from 18 o’clock to 21:00 and we spent 31 euros each one. Later we had dinner.
Day 2:
The second day we went out to visit the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica from 9 o’clock to 12:00 and for this we paid 41 euros each one. Afterward, we went to eat something. The Vatican Museums are one of the most important art collections in the world since they exhibit the enormous collection of artworks accumulated over the centuries by the Popes: the Sistine Chapel and the papal apartment are frescoed by Michelangelo and Raphael. The St. Peter’s Basilica is the biggest church in the world with a surface of 23000 square meters. They were not only great architects and sculptors but real geniuses of their time. They worked together at San Pietro and Piazza Navona and they often found each other finishing as in the case of Palazzo Barberini. What is perhaps not told is that they had completely different characters and that they were in strong rivalry with each other.
Day 7:
The seventh day we caught the bus and we went to visit the famous city of Pompeii. It has a special charm, given the fact that it was made immortal by a catastrophic event like the eruption of Vesuvius. Pompeii is a unique place in the world from a historical and artistic point of view. Walking through the basalt streets it is possible to imagine how the daily life of its inhabitants took place. The main site of this city was undoubtedly the Forum, a vast space surrounded by columns and embellished with marble statues, of which today only the pedestals remain. The Forum was the real town square, around it were the most important points of the city from economic and commercial activities to political and religious ones. The cost was of 136 euros each one.
